From the AOT emergency operations center in Rutland at 7:45pm on Friday…
Route 9 is NOW open from Brattleboro to Wilmington – not just for emergency vehicles, but at your own risk, four-wheel drive very strongly recommended. The road is passable but extremely rough, and only locals or people performing essential services should use it.
If you are planning to visit this weekend, please don’t plan to use that road, and in general, the less people use it the sooner they will be able to repair it completely.
(The status of route 9 has been hard to determine today – the issue seems to be CAN you drive on it and SHOULD you drive on it. If anyone has any updates, please post them directly here as comments and/or let us know and we’ll see if we can confirm or deny them.)
